Coronavirus live news: Novavax effective against UK variant but less so against South African one

In New Zealand, the minister of Covid-19 response Chris Hipkins said there are no new cases of the virus in the community today, and this “does provide reassurance” for the upcoming long weekend and Waitangi next week.

“There is no reason people’s travel plans should change,” the minister said.

Documentary photographer Kirsty Mackay examines the causes of the ‘Glasgow Effect’ in a highly personal project. She looks at Glasgow’s excess mortality in comparison to the UK average and shifts the focus from the individual to government policy.
